Chipping medium is used to create the effect of battered and worn paintwork on vehicles, machinery and buildings. It is applied over an underlying coat of paint or primer, then when dry, a further top-coat of paint is applied. By rubbing with a hard brush or stick, flakes of paint come away to leave a realistic worn and chipped paint look. Supplied in a 35ml bottle, Vallejo Chipping Medium used a water-based acrylic base rather than the solvent base of other similar products, making it distinctly less smelly in use.
